Day 1 – As we head toward Texas, our first stop is the Chisholm Trail Museum in Wellington, Kansas. Stroll through a variety of artifacts: from military items to antique furniture and items brought to the area by pioneer wagons traveling the Chisholm Trail.
Day 2 – Stretch and enjoy home made ice cream from the Braum’s Processing Plant and Bakery in Tuttle, Oklahoma. The Oklahoma City Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum has a world-class collection of art, artifacts and archival materials. The museum displays a broad array of material that reflects the variety of peoples, cultures, and historical currents found in the West. This afternoon, you’ll experience the Old West coming alive as genuine cowboys herd Texas longhorn cattle down Exchange Avenue in the Stockyards National Historic District.
Day 3 – Keep your eyes on the road as we come into Waco, and see if you can spot the influences of Waco’s most famous couple, Chip and Joanna Gaines of Fixer-Upper. You’ll see their Magnolia Market at the Silos to browse and perhaps purchase home decor items chosen by Joanna. Chip and Joanna hope you’ll come to visit and leave excited about your home. You’ll also visit Harper Design Company and see some of the handmade custom furniture that Joanna so loves to use in her designs. After a driving tour of some of the homes Chip and Joanna renovated, dinner’s on us at Vitek’s BBQ, a Chip and Joanna favorite!
